Smallville: First Look At Black Canary By Groshan Fabiola Smallville has grown from just an adaptation of Clark Kent 's life as a young man to a real pre-Superman era series. In fact, they've built it up so much that the show has incorporated more than a few DC Comics characters such as The Green Arrow, The Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg and Martian Manhunter. Most recently, another classic DC Comics character has come into the show, and this time it's Black Canary, who will be debuting in the February 7 episode of Smallville entitled "Siren." In the original comics, Black Canary is an ass-kicking member of the Birds of Prey and the love interest of Green Arrow. She also has a high powered sonic scream that can shatter objects and incapacitate villains. The CW recently released photos of Smallville's version of the femme fatale.
Before that though, let's examine the original Black Canary from the DC Comics. The original Black Canary sports long blonde hair with bangs, and is dressed in a turtleneck, skintight, sexy sleeveless leather suit. She's also got some hot boots to match her black gloves.
Smallville's version of the Black Canary, played by Alaina Huffman, is a little bit more sassy. She sports a boyish haircut, making her look like a lesbian at first. However, when you look at her outfit, you can see that
she sports a sexier skintight suit, with her neckline plunging down to her cleavage. Like the original Black Canary, she sports the fishnet stockings with heavy eye make-up to conceal her face.
Smallville's Black Canary seems to be crazier and sassier when it comes to style. Viewers will have to find out if her personality matches her style, when they see her in the upcoming episode, in which she works with Lex (Michael Rosenbaum). This collaboration might mean that she'll end up in a conflict with Chloe (Allison Mack), Lois (Erica Durance), Clark (Tom Welling), and Green Arrow. In the original comics, Black Canary initially despised Green Arrow before she fell in love with him, thus it might be a start of a love-hate relationship.
Smallville's "Siren" airs on Thursday, February 7 at 8pm on the CW. For more resources about Smallville or for the full story of Smallville: First Look at Black Canary please review www.buddytv.com
